This is Penny. She came to us from the Regina, Saskatchewan SPCA, through my daughter. She looks like a Basset Fauve de Bretagne from France (and even had a tatoo in her ear), but common sense tells me that she is a Saskatchewan Mutt.
I've had lots of dogs in my life, but this one is special. She is a real character. She can spread the recycling all over the livingroom one minute and the next minute charm the socks off you!
She recently had her gall bladder explode and required a VERY EXPENSIVE surgery, but there was no question about spending the money, because.... it's Penny. I'm happy to report that she's in fine form now and back to getting into the recycling and chasing her ball around the house. The depth of feeling I had when I thought we would lose her is difficult to put into words.
